History comes alive for children at Uckfield Fire Station

A history lesson came alive for children from Holy Cross School when they toured Uckfield Fire Station.

Fifty pupils from years 1 and 2 studying the Great Fire of London learned about the history of the fire station and watched a video of Uckfield’s own great fire which took place in 2012 and left shops and offices in the High Street closed for a year.

The children formed their own human bucket chain to put out ‘flames’ in a model firehouse, watched demonstrations and looked around a fire engine.
