Hartfields hopes to expand into neighbouring shop

Hartfields Produce Store is hoping to expand into a neighbouring shop, currently occupied by Autism Sussex.

A planning application for change of use has been submitted and if this is granted they hope to take on the lease of the building imminently.

Hartfield’s owner James Hartfield said contracts have been negotiated with Lawson Commercial and final agreement is awaited, dependent upon receipt of planning permission.

James said the change would made a huge difference to his business which has been growing steadily since opening six years ago.

The main advantage would be doubling the size of the kitchen and storage areas enabling the team to be more efficient with quicker and better service.

It would also mean the whole building could be refurbished to celebrate the sixth anniversary.

James told Uckfield News: “I really hope we are able to do this but there are many hurdles to clear on the way beginning with the planning application. The landlord and agent are supportive but nothing has been signed so we cannot guarantee being able to go ahead.”
