Good start to Christmas Jumper Day at Ridgewood Post Office

Update on Tuesday, December 18: Ridgewood Post Office raised £102.42 for Save the Children Fund by inviting donations from customers on Christmas Jumper Day.

This will be added to raffle proceeds of £61 which will also be going to the charity.

From our original story on Friday, December 14: Christmas Jumper Day got off to a good start at Ridgewood Post Office and Stores this morning.

This is because there was already £61 in the kitty for the Save the Children Fund, the charity benefiting from the nationwide event.

The money was raised in a raffle during late night shopping at the Post Office last week.

Today the team donned Christmas jumpers, decorated the shop with mini jumpers as bunting – made by Sue Gothard - and set aside more for customers donating to the cause.

Even a collection jar where customers could contribute to Save the Children was wearing a Christmas jumper.

Sue Gothard, who runs Ridgewood Post Office and Stores with her husband Jon, is pictured with mini-jumpers she made to exchange for donations in aid of Save the Children Fund. Note too the collection jar which was wearing its own Christmas jumper.
