D J Osborne Butchers in Framfield Road, Uckfield, closes today at noon so that staff can attend the funeral of 25-year-old Daniel Osborne.
The butcher’s shop will re-open tomorrow (Thursday, January 22) at 9.30am.
Daniel who, with his wife Kayleigh, leased the shop and ran the business died when his car hit a tree at Horam on Monday, December 29, as he drove to work.
Kayleigh is determined to continue Daniel’s business dream with customers being made to feel welcome, as usual, at the shop. Popular competitions continue to be publicised on the DJ Osborne Facebook page.
Daniel’s funeral will take place at Eastbourne Crematorium at 2.30pm and be followed by a celebration of his life at Blackstock Farm, Grove Hill, Hellingly.
The family has arranged for a photographer to cover the events so that pictures can go into baby Sophie’s memory box.
They say other people are welcome to take pictures too and they would be pleased to have copies put on a disc so that they too can be added to the memory box.
Sophie was only four-weeks-old when Daniel died and a trust fund has been set up to help her in the future.
Daniel and Kayleigh opened their butcher’s shop in Framfield Road, just over a year ago, after a full re-fit of premises at number 58.
Daniel said at the time: “Our aim is to provide local people with a quality source of meat and pies.”
Before opening the shop Daniel spent eight years working in Pomfrets, Heathfield, which is owned by his step-father Robert Pomfret and mother Phil.
A Facebook page, RIP Daniel Osborne, featuring pictures of Daniel with Kayleigh and Sophie and recording milestones in Sophie’s life has been set up.
