Kamsons Pharmacy health champions Pat Wickson and Allison De Bolla who conduct drop-in free NHS health checks at the Bell Farm Road pharmacy on Thursdays and in Uckfield High Street on Fridays.

Free NHS health checks offered at Kamsons Pharmacy

Free NHS health checks are now available at Kamsons Pharmacy in Uckfield High Street and Bell Farm Road.

The checks, which are also on offer in GP surgeries, help to spot early signs of  high blood pressure, heart disease, or diabetes.

They are available for adults aged 40-74 and you are welcome to drop in at Kamsons Pharmacy in Bell Farm Lane on Thursdays where Pat Wickson will be carrying out the free checks from 10am to 3pm.

Allison De Bolla will be carrying out the checks at Kamsons in High Street on Fridays from 9am to 5pm.

The checks include measuring your height and weight to calculate your body mass index.

Then there are blood pressure, pulse, cholesterol checks and a diabetes assessment.

The amount of physical activity you do, whether you smoke, and how much you drink are all taken into account.

Once all the information has been gathered a calculation is done to estimate your risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD) over the next ten years.

This includes all diseases of the heart and circulatory system, including coronary heart disease, angina, heart attack, congenital heart disease and stroke.

Kamsons pharmacy health champions Pat and Allison are trained to conduct the assessments and are also able to discuss your results with you then offer advice to help lower any risk, and maintain, or improve, your health.

All your results are recorded in a booklet for you to take away. The booklet includes tips for improving your readings and on where you can find more information about making lifestyle changes.

The results of the check are shared with your doctor who will follow up if necessary.
