Framfield Stagers raise £1,000 for charity through panto

Framfield Stagers have presented £1,000 to charity following their production of the pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk.

The Stagers have been entertaining the village and raising money for good causes since 1999, and this year’s production enabled them to offer much-needed funds to Demelza, a charity helping babies, children and young people who may not live a long life to live as full a life as possible.

Cast member, Chloe West said “A lot of hard work goes into what we do, but it’s so rewarding to know we’re not just providing entertainment to the local community. We’re also helping a wonderful cause which does great things for youngsters when they need it most.”

Newcomer, Nicole Hudson was thrilled to be a part of it all. “When we moved to the village, it struck me how lucky we are to have use of such a great community facility in the form of Framfield Memorial Hall.

“We’ve been entertained as audience members at several Framfield Stagers shows in recent years, so it feels amazing for my husband and I to join in the fun ourselves. Then, to know that what we’re doing actually helps to make a difference to the important work of charities such as Demelza, well, it’s the icing on the cake.”

Once all the outgoing costs are finalized, such as hall hire, costumes, and printing, the Framfield Stagers are always keen to hand over a sizeable donation to their chosen charity.

Director Chris Judge says it’s also thanks to sponsors and donors that they are able to give so much. “The generous companies who sponsor the show, the individuals who kindly hand over raffle prizes and the professional experts who lend us their valuable time without charge all make such a difference.”

Mrs Julie Brett from the Demelza Fundraising Team said the Framfield Stagers’ donation would allow a team of specialist community nurses to provide expert care in the comfort and safety of a child’s own home; in a familiar environment, surrounded by all their favourite toys and home comforts.

She added: “Local families also have use of wonderful facilities at our hospices in Sittingbourne and Eltham. Thanks to the support of generous people like you, our care can continue. On behalf of all the babies, children, young people and families who we care for, and staff and volunteers, thank you.”
