50-year-old man dies in incident on Manor Park estate

Update on Monday, August 8: Police say a 50-year-old man died in an incident at Uckfield on Friday.

They say emergency services were called to Birling Way, on the Manor Park Estate, at 11.45am after it was reported a car had fallen on a man working underneath it.

They say the death is not being treated as suspicious and it has been reported to the coroner.

Update at 1.34pm: Police said emergency services were called to Manor Park estate, Uckfield, this morning after it was reported a car fell on a man working underneath it outside a house in Birling Way.

They said emergency services were still on the scene. They were called at 11.45am.

From our original story: An air ambulance has landed on Uckfield Rugby Club land, and two fire engines, two police cars, a police bike and a rapid response ambulance car and fire chief car have all been at the site in Oakwood Drive.

The Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Air Ambulance charity said their helicopter, from Redhill, was called to the site of an “accidental injury”.

Police will be releasing information on the incident later.
