Two Uckfield bus routes are affected by a decision by Seaford and District to withdraw from running daytime services.
Changes to the 231 service, Uckfield – Framfield – Heathfield – Burwash – Etchingham, are not expected until March 31, when the contract for the East Sussex County Council-funded service is due to end.
The council warns: “The replacement service may not be as comprehensive as the current provision (Seaford and District currently provide an improved hourly service between Uckfield and Heathfield).
The other route, the 261 Uckfield to East Grinstead bus service, has been taken over by Compass Travel Sussex.
Compass took over on Monday (January 8), from Seaford and District but says there will be no changes to timetables or fares on the service.
The 261 goes to East Grinstead via Nutley and Forest Row.
Compass have also taken over the 228/229 Crowborough to Tunbridge Wells route.
• Compass have run the 261 service before. Our picture of the 261 at Uckfield Bus Station was taken in 2013.
It is also worth noting there are minor timing changes to the following Brighton and Hove buses services on Saturday and Sunday mornings from January 14.:
Service 28, Brighton – Sussex University – Lewes – Ringmer – Uckfield. Journeys will no longer serve East Hoathly on Sundays.
Service 29, Brighton – Sussex University – Lewes-Isfield/Rose Hill – Uckfield – Crowborough – Tunbridge Wells.
