Dogs looked polished and trimmed when they attended the second birthday party of The Forest Vet at Maresfield on Saturday.
Their owners made sure they were looking their best because a dog show was planned as part of the celebrations and everybody wanted to give their pet a fair chance in the competition.
Some of those raring to go posed for an Uckfield News photograph as they waited for other contestants to arrive.
Pictured with them is vet Dr Rachael Vinod Nair who founded the business. She is holding just-groomed Bertie the practice mascot.
The weather was perfect for the occasion. An ice-cream van provided treats for children and there were bales for people to sit on while enjoying the fun.
Classes in the dog show included most handsome boy, prettiest bitch, most appealing eyes, golden oldie (over seven years), best-behaved puppy (up to a year), best trick and dog the judge wants to take home.
Funds raised at the party will go to the charity The Forest Vet in India which offers free neutering services and veterinary advice.
The charity was set up by Rachael, who recently married in India, and noticed the growing population of stray dogs and cats.
