Dogs could be banned from Maresfield Recreation Ground because owners are allowing them to foul there.
The parish council is consulting over possible solutions to the problem.
Council chairman Roger Street said in his annual report: “A number of complaints have been received concerning dog fouling on Maresfield Recreation Ground.
“The dog bins paid for by the parish and provided by Wealden District Council are not being fully utilised.
“This is particularly offensive to those playing in sporting events.
“As result the council is consulting on possible solutions.
“These might include: banning dogs completely; or only allowing dogs on leads with a requirement to for handlers to dispose of any dog mess.
“These would carry a fine for owners who failed to comply.”
The situation at Maresfield is similar to the problems being faced by Uckfield Town Council at the Victoria Pleasure Ground where council staff have been abused. See: Dog owners abuse Uckfield council staff.
