About Uckfield Chiropractic Clinic
An expert team of professionals work together at Uckfield Chiropractic Clinic to ensure you obtain the quickest natural recovery possible from nerve, muscle and joint problems.
The team includes doctors of chiropractic, all registered with the General Chiropractic Council, and a highly-qualified Olympic sports therapist.
Chiropractors are expert in spinal health care and specialise in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the effect of these disorders on the nervous system and on general health.
The sports therapist offers sports and remedial massage which benefits athletes and non-atheletes alike and also practises the Bowen Technique, a subtle and relaxing hands-on restorative therapy over connective tissue.
Uckfield Chiropractic Clinic treats patients of all ages from paediatric to geriatric.
Treatment is provided for many conditions including:
- Back and neck pain
- Headaches and migraines
- Nerve pain (sciatica and carpal tunnel syndrome)
- Disc problems
- Sports injuries
Chiropractic can also increase performance and wellness offering:
- Care throughout pregnancy, and recuperation for mother and baby after birth
- Treatment for growing children
- Improvement of grandparents’ ability to pick up and play with grandchildren
- Enhancing sporting performance
- Keeping older people moving.
The goal at Uckfield Chiropractic is to relieve you of pain as soon as possible while also improving joint mobility which in turn helps to normalise the nervous system.
Failure to restore joint function to normal usually means that any pain relief is only temporary.
Techniques used depend on your pain levels and problems and include manipulation, dry-needling and gentle non-invasive methods.
Before your appointment you will be asked to provide details of your current and past health.
During your visit a chiropractor – Dr Becky Andrew or Dr Robert Whall – will undertake a comprehensive physical examination and a detailed assessment to check your posture, alignment, muscle strength and nerve responses.
X-rays can be taken at our sister Hailsham clinic if considered necessary.
Once we establish the root cause of your symptoms we can determine if chiropractic is likely to help.
A comprehensive explanation of our findings will be presented to you at the first appointment unless x-rays or further tests are required. We will also outline the most appropriate treatment plan for your condition and the outcome you can expect following the recommended course of action.
We will endeavour to conduct your first treatment during the initial consultation also offering advice, stretches and exercises for you to undertake afterwards.
Acute conditions often respond quickly and dramatically. Chronic conditions can take longer to respond.
The clinic says it aims to improve the quality of life for its patients.
For chronic or recurring conditions periodic appointments may be recommended to allow maintenance of optimal nerve function.
Chiropractor Dr Robert Whall joins Uckfield Chiropractic
Uckfield Chiropractic and Hailsham Chiropractic are pleased to introduce our new chiropractor: Dr Robert Whall.
Robert has studied biological sciences in great depth and graduated from Edinburgh University with an Honours degree in Immunology in 2004. At the earliest opportunity, he enrolled at the Anglo European College of Chiropractic, in Bournemouth. He successfully completed a Masters in Chiropractic in 2008.
Since graduating he has worked in a very busy Wellness Practice in Paisley, Renfrewshire and was then promoted in order to run Kilmarnock Chiropractic, as the principal chiropractor for three years.
It was during this period that he gained expertise in Torque Release Technique, a gentle chiropractic technique.
Desiring a return to the balmy south of England, he moved to Fleet, and worked in a busy and multi-disciplinary practice, Durham House Chiropractic Clinic. During this period that he gained a wealth of experience in Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT), having completed 11 modules, and being continually fascinated by the potential of such techniques to improve peoples’ lives.
He has continually updated his knowledge and skills, including completing the ICAK Applied Kinesiology course in 2016-17.
Robert is dedicated to helping clients to gain symptomatic relief and enabling people to function better. For some clients, this will mean attaining their highest performance, and reaching their full potential.
Robert Whall is registered with:
The General Chiropractic Council (GCC). The United Chiropractic Association (UCA). BUPA. AXA-PPP. Western Provident Association (WPA) and The College of Chiropractors.
Our highly qualified Olympic therapist, Christina Chalmers, works closely with our chiropractors offering sports and remedial massage to help restore normal/optimal function, relieve muscular aches and pains and improving balance and flexibility benefiting non-athletes as well as athletes.
The sports and remedial massage can also be used in injury prevention and rehabilitation, and in preparation for and recovery from sports events, helping you to keep your training on target.
Christina also offers Kinesiology Taping as part of her treatment programme.
This is a subtle and relaxing hands-on restorative therapy over connective tissue. There is no use of manipulation, adjustments, massage or equipment.
Due to its gentle nature it is suitable for everyone from babies to older people, for acute problems and injuries, to chronic conditions, palliative care as well as in pregnancy.
The Bowen technique uses precise rolling type moves which gently stimulate soft tissue, muscles, joints, the circulatory and lymphatic systems.
It can help with stress and anxiety, painful muscles, ME, fibromyalgia, asthma, digestive problems and more.
Hot stone massage
Massage therapist Anna Archer specialises in Hot Stone Massage and Pregnancy Massage.
A full Hot Stone Massage is a deeply relaxing treatment. Volcanic Stones that have been tossed in Larva are heated in water and uysed as extensions of the hands to massage the body.
The heat enhances the relaxing and healing effect of the massage by warming and softening the tissues.
Stones can also be used clinically to help treat chronic pain and acute injuries. Combining hot and cold can speed up the healing process by flushing the affected area and bringing fresh blood with oxygen and nutrients into it.
Pregnancy massage can help support you during the changes physically and emotionally that you go through. A nurturing skilled touch with individualised attention to needs, combined with non-judgemental listening and emotional support is offered during this time in your changing life.
Anna has been practising as a massage therapist since 2000, working in Northern Ireland, the UK and New Zealand. She has attended courses that have developed her understanding in the musculoskeletal system and that have taught her about different techniques that can be used to facilitate the healing process.
