Dad's abseiling challenge will raised funds for children's charity

Uckfield dad Nigel Winter is to abseil 450 feet down the tower at Guys Hospital, London, to raise funds for an organisation which supports children with heart disease.

Nigel's son Oscar was born with a combination of complicated cardiac defects. He had his first operation aged eight hours and has had several more since then. All the time his family has been supported by an organisation called Echo.

Now they want to say thank you by raising some funds for Echo, based at the Evelina Children's Hospital which provides services for Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals.

The abseiling event will take place on May 15 during children's heart week which begins on May 8.

Nigel, aged 40, lives on the Manor Park estate and is a member of the Ringles Cross crib team. He works in Tunbridge Wells. There will be two others in his abseiling team.
