Part of the scene on a Chrismast plate you can create in a workshop at Kilnwood Studio, Uckfield.

Create your own Christmas plate at Kilnwood Studio

If you would like to create your own Christmas plate a step-by-step workshop is being held at Kilnwood Studio today (Wednesday, November 30) and others can be organised for groups of people on request.

The night-time scene with Christmas trees set against a sky twinkling with stars is painted on to a square plate and then glazed and fired at the studio before being returned to you in time for Christmas.

One workshop is already arranged for today at 11am but if you, and a group of five or six other people, are interested in a workshop of your own then please contact the studio on 01825 749627 to book a time.

The fee for the workshop is £16 per person.

Personalised plates

Gift plates can also be personalised at Kilnwood Studio. Pre-decorated plates can have your own choice of words added either to the rim or the centre of the plate depending on the design. You can choose your own colour too.

Personalised plates are being offered at £13.50 a plate. Orders must be received by Friday, December 16, so that they can be ready in time for Christmas.

Late night shopping

You will be welcome to call in at Kilnwood Studio during late night shopping on Friday, December 2, to see the plate designs, do some pottery painting yourself or simply to enjoy a mince pie with business owners Lisa Todhunter and Teresa Smith. The studio will be open until 9pm.

A variety of cards and paintings are also for sale at the studio including some by 15-year-old Andrew Stears, a student at Uckfield Community Technology College.

The studio will be open on Christmas Eve, 10-3pm, then have a holiday over Christmas, e-opening again on Tuesday, January 3.
