The late Hazel Poole as a pantomime fairy. A concert is to be held in her memory on July 8.

Concert will be a celebration of Hazel

A concert is to be held at Uckfield Community Technology College on July 8 in memory of Hazel Poole, who used to work there.

Hazel died at the end of 2015 but through her love of musical theatre, singing and performing she left her family, friends and colleagues many happy and joyous memories, according to her good friend April Dawson.

Honour memories

April said: “To honour those memories and the way she touched so many lives, UCTC and Hazel’s family are bringing together performers and friends from the choirs and societies she performed with over many years, and at times directed, for an evening of music and song, and the odd sketch or two.

“Hazel’s concert will feature performances from the Uckfield Singers, Manor Primary School Choir, Framfield Stagers, Uckfield Theatre Guild, and from her colleagues at UCTC and its talented pupils.

Special performances

“Old friends from the many shows she performed in and members of her family will also be contributing some very special performances. It is going to be an evening of great music, friendship and beautiful memories.”

The concert will raise funds for two charities, Macmillan Nursing and St Peter and St James Hospice show both supported Hazel during her last few months.

Tickets

Tickets are available from UCTC finance for £2. There will be opportunities to further contribute during the evening by supporting the bar and donating for refreshments.

April added: “We hope to see as many of you at the concert as possible, to celebrate Hazel and to support two fantastic causes. It is going to be a great occasion, an evening – like the lady it honours – that will stay in our memories.”
