Chance to dress in red, white and blue and join Uckfield parade

Uckfield townspeople are invited to dress in red, white and blue to take part in a parade to mark the Queen’s diamond jubilee on Monday, June 4.

The parade is being organised by the Uckfield Bonfire and Carnival Society and secretary Carol Watts-Arnold would be pleased to hear from anybody interested in taking part.

She said: “Our members will be out in their carnival costumes but we hope other groups, organisations, schools, families and individuals will join us in costumes of red, white and blue to mark the occasion.”

The procession will begin at Grange Road in the centre of Uckfield at 7.30pm and make its way up to the Victoria Pleasure Ground where there are plans to light a beacon and hold a fireworks display.

The jubilee procession won’t be torchlit as on the annual carnival night because it will take place in daylight.

If you would like to be involved please contact Carol on 07761 730 746 or by email at carolwattsarnold@aol.com.
