Celebration as Uckfield Volunteer Centre relaunches

Uckfield Volunteer Centre was officially relaunched yesterday with a party to celebrate its new look.

Sixties country singer Frank Ifield snipped a ribbon to mark the relaunch and other guests included the vice-chairman of East Sussex County Council Cllr Michael Ensor, vice-chairman of Wealden District Council Cllr Barby Dashwood-Morris and Uckfield Mayor Cllr Ian Smith.

About 50 people then enjoyed a buffet at the Luxford Centre just around the corner from the volunteer centre.

Centre manager Ann Montier said the aim of the relaunch was to raise the profile of the organisation in the town and help “marry-up” the many people wanting to volunteer with the large number of opportunities available in the Uckfield area.

Pictures of some of the guests can be seen in our gallery below. Just click on one picture to scroll through them all.
