Cards for Good Causes in business again at Bridge Cottage, Uckfield

Cards for Good Causes can be found in a pop-up shop at Bridge Cottage, Uckfield, in the run-up to Christmas.

The shop opened earlier this month but artist Doreen Beattie, who produces illustrations for the Friends of Sussex Hospices, has been invited to perform an official opening ceremony today at 2pm.

The shop is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 3pm until Wednesday, December 20, and will also be open for late night shopping on Friday, December 1.

On sale are charity cards, advent calendars and candles, calendars, decorative paper napkins, linen tea towels with a Christmas theme, wrapping paper and gift tags, note books and small toys suitable as stocking fillers.

More than 25 charities are represented within the shop, and local charities to. The aim of the shop is to provide them with at least 70p in every pound raised, with the remainder spent on running the shops.

Cards for Good Causes first appeared in Bridge Cottage last year and is run by volunteers.

Manager Nicholas Howell said he was delighted to be at the cottage again. He added: “The open hearths, brick floors and beamed ceilings add to the charm of Christmas.”
