Buxted strongman Paul Price takes third place in competition

Buxted strongman Paul Price took third place in a competition at Hastings on Saturday to find the strongest man and strongest woman in Sussex.

It was his best performance to date and he raised more than £150 for Oscar’s Wish Foundation in the process.

Oscar’s Wish was founded by Gemma Kybert, from Buxted, to support parents who have experienced a miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal passing.

Earlier this year Paul came fifth in another competition and raised more than £350 for a mental health charity.

Paul, who trains at the Iron House gym in Uckfield was delighted with his third place out of 12 competitors.

He had said beforehand that his strength was increasing and his personal bests stood at 100kg overhead press, 250kg conventional deadlift and 300kg trap bar deadlift.

The events he took part in were 190kg deadlift for reps in a minute, 190kg Conan’s well, truck pull, 90kg axle overhead press for reps in a minute and Atlas stones 100-130kg.

He told Uckfield News he felt comfortable enough in the competition and now he is ready to step up to the next level.
