Bus service changes coming in September

Changes are expected to two bus services in the Uckfield area from September.

The services affected are 31 which runs Haywards Heath – Uckfield – Heathfield – Etchingham – Hurst Green and 261, Uckfield – Nutley – Wych Cross – Coleman’s Hatch – Forest Row – East Grinstead, writes Paul Llewellyn.

For service 31 an additional morning and afternoon bus is to run on school days only. It will show as service 431 and will be accessible to the public while running between Newick and Uckfield to cater for Uckfield Community Technology College pupils. It starts on September 3.31 service bus

On Saturdays service 31 will be diverted to serve Walstead and Northlands Wood in the Haywards Heath area, in common with the Monday to Friday service.

There will be adjustments to the times at stops between Heathfield, Uckfield and Haywards Heath.

Service 261

Compass Bus decided it could not continue with the commercial operation of service 261 between Uckfield and East Grinstead and Seaford and District are taking on the service from Monday, September 14.

It will run Monday to Saturday on a similar route and times to that operated by Compass Bus.

Seaford and District will not be serving Chelwood Common and Chelwood Gate – Compass Bus didn’t either – but has said it will be willing to review the route in the future.
