It was time to celebrate at Ridgewood Post Office yesterday, Monday, March 9, as owners Jon and Sue Gothard marked the official launch of their refurbished business.
Uckfield Mayor Cllr Ian Smith was there, complete with a giant pair of scissors, to perform the opening ceremony while staff and customers looked on.
The consensus was that Jon and Sue have done a good job of breathing new life into the Post Office and Stores. One customer said she realised just how much she relied on the shop when it closed for refurbishment. She appreciated being able to walk to it whenever she needed something.
Cllr Smith said: “The shop’s new look is terrific, modern and smart, and a pleasure to use. And, of course, as ever, the staff welcome you with a smile and are happy to serve you.”
He said Jon and Sue were to be congratulated for what they had done to their business. “They have been here to serve the residents of Ridgewood for nigh on 30 years now. By undertaking this refurbishment they have re-affirmed their commitment to be of service to Ridgewood residents.
He added: “For their part, Ridgewood residents must commit their support for Jon and Sue by continuing to shop here at the Post Office.”
There was a glass of bubbly and snacks for all as the celebration continued.
