Best Kept Cellar, Silent Customer, and runner up in Managed House Floral Competition – all of these accolades have been scooped up by the Blackboys Inn.
Natalie and Jay Dunbar are delighted that their pub has been recognised as succeeding in so many areas by Harvey’s Brewery.
Natalie said she was particularly pleased for Jay that they have won the Best Kept Cellar because he works hard to look after the beer – and this award has been newly introduced after a break of several years.
Silent Customer award
She said the Silent Customer award was special too because that took into account food, service, cleanliness, and ambience.
She added: “The silent customer reports are really insightful and help us recognise areas we excel in and areas that need improving. It always helps to have fresh eyes looking at what we do.”
Natalie was full of praise for gardener Glynn Rees who looks after the Blackboys Inn gardens. He comes daily during the summer to water and look after the plants, most of which he has grown himself, including beautiful hybrids.
Natalie added: “Glynn comes up with some lovely ideas and all the credit for the garden does go to him, so it’s nice to receive that award.”
The Blackboys Inn holds major events throughout the year. So far during 2018 there has been a steam engine rally, classic car rally and beer festival.
Next on the agenda will be a Fin, Fur and Feather celebration featuring local game produce when the chef will come up with a six course tasting menu, including the pub’s own blackberries, cobnuts, allotment vegetables, and game from supplier David Douglas.
The date for your diary is Thursday, November 8.
The pub’s Christmas party menu will also be going on to the Blackboys Inn website soon too.
