Beware thieves at Wealden beauty spots

Sussex Police are warning that there have been a number of thefts from vehicles at beauty spots in the Wealden area.sussex-police-new-logo-nov-2017

They are asking that if you witness suspicious behaviour you report it to them by calling 101, or, if there is a crime in action, by dialling 999, giving as much details as possible, such as time frames, vehicle registration numbers and descriptions of the person/people involved.

They say thieves are striking in remote areas of the countryside, often visited by walkers, and dog walkers.

They add: “The fact that these areas are quite isolated makes vehicles a target of thefts, especially in the summer months.”

They advise:

  • Keeping possessions with you instead of leaving them in the vehicle,
  • Making use of security products such as steering locks
  • Registering belongings with immobilise
  • Remembering to shut all windows and doors activating alarms.
