Armida Chartered Accountants entered into the spirit of Red Nose Day through the Great Comic Relief Bake Off.
Receptionist Maddie Barry (Mary Berry) persuaded the team to get their pinnies out and get baking. The rules were that:
- Everyone must wear something red
- Cakes must contain a red ingredient
- Cakes must have a funny face
All bakers were invited to sample the contributions and vote for their favourite. This led to a tense draw between Maddie’s cherry bakewell smileys and Shelley Standing’s white chocolate and raspberry cup cakes.
The deciding vote fell on managing director Tim Maton who was impressed by the light texture of Maddie’s cakes but decided in favour of the variant of flavours found in Shelley’s. He is now known as the Paul Hollywood of the accountancy world.
Accountants are not always seen as creative and practical but the challenge brought out the best in the team including Tom Geoghegan’s delicious cheese scones decorated with red nose style cherry tomatoes.
Maddie also ran a Funny Face sweepstake won by Leah Clements.
Great fun was had by all and vast amounts of goodies consumed. More importantly the team raised £70 for Comic Relief.
